This is critical. Get this:
- Google is retiring the traditional Q&A section on Google Business Profiles and replacing it with new AI-powered experiences that auto-answer customer questions using data from your profile, website, and structured markup.
- The November 2025 Google Business Profile update also adds:
- AI insights (recommendations based on your performance data)
- Verified review badges to highlight trusted reviews
- Better messaging tools and more granular local performance reports.
What this means to you:
For a lot of patients, their entire “research process” looks like this:
Google “dentist near me” → skim your profile → maybe visit your site, maybe not.
Google’s AI will now answer their questions directly
(“Do they do IV sedation?”, “Do they see kids?”, “Do they offer same-day crowns?”) using whatever you’ve told Google and what’s on your site.
If your profile/site are thin or outdated, the AI will:
Omit you from answers
Answer incorrectly
Or show a competitor instead
What you absolutely must do:
(I) Fully complete your Google Business Profile
-
- Add every service (implants, Invisalign/ortho, sedation types, emergency care, payment options, in-house plans, etc.).
- Upload fresh photos of the team, exterior, interior, and key treatments.
(II) Rewrite your GBP description like an FAQ in paragraph form
-
- Naturally work in phrases your patients actually search (“scared of the dentist,” “sleep dentistry,” “dental implants in [city]”).
(III) Move Q&A content onto your website
-
- Take your most-common questions and build a robust FAQ or “New Patients” page so AI has somewhere authoritative to pull from.
(IV) Push for more reviews (and respond to all of them)
-
- Verified, detailed reviews are becoming a much stronger trust + ranking signal in AI-driven local search.
AI Overviews now sit on top of most searches—AND clicks are dropping
What changed
- Google AI Overviews (the AI summary box at the top of search) now appear on about 60% of Google search results in the US as of November 10, 2025.
- New research shows that when AI Overviews appear:
- Organic CTR on informational queries drops by ~61%
- Paid CTR drops by ~68%
- Even on queries without AI Overviews, clicks are down significantly.
- Google is also testing a new mobile experience where tapping “Show more” on the AI Overview drops you straight into a conversational AI Mode, pushing traditional blue links even further down.
Why you should care Patients are:
Reading AI summaries instead of clicking
Asking follow-up questions inside Google’s AI chat
Only clicking through when they really trust or need something specific
That means:
Ranking #1 is no longer enough.}
You need to be cited inside the AI Overview and prominent in local packs or you’ll see fewer visits even if your rankings haven’t “dropped.”
If you don’t, patients will see your competitors before you!!!
